ማኅበሩ መቼ ተመሰረተ?

የድሬዳዋ ልጆችና ወዳጆች ዓለም አቀፍ ማኅበር ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ በግሪጎሪያን አቆጣጠር ጁላይ 2018 ዓ.ም. በአሜሪካና በአውሮፓ በሚኖሩ የድሬዳዋ ልጆችና ወዳጆች አማካይነት ተመሰረተ። ማኅበሩ በዚህ ወቅት ከ100 በላይ አባት ያሉት ሲሆን፣ አባላቱም በ4 አህጉራት ማለትም በሰሜን አሜሪካ፣በአውሮፓ፣በእስያና አውስትራሊያ ይገኛሉ።

የማኅበሩ ዓላማ

1. በሀገርና በውጪ የሚኖሩ የድሬዳዋ ልጆች ስለከተማቸው የጋራ ጉዳያቸውን የሚመክሩበት፣ ጠቃሚና ገነቢ ሀሳቦች የሚንሸራሸሩበት የጋራ መድረክ መፍጠር
2. የድሬዳዋ ልጆች እና ነዋሪዎች በከተማቸው ኢኮኖሚያዊ፣ ማኅበራዊና ፖl።ቲካዊ ጉዳዮች ሊኖሯቸው የሚገባውን ንቁ ተሳትፎ ማጎልበትና ዲሞክራሲያዊና ሰብዓዊ መብቶቻቸው ያለምንm መሸራረፍ እንዲመካከሩና እኩል ተጠቃሚነትም እንዲሰፍን ጥረት ማድረግ
3. ማኅበራዊ ፍትሃዊነት እና ልማት የሰፈነባት ከተማ እንድትሆን፣ በድሬዳዋ ማኅበራዊ ልማቶችና በበጎ አድራጎት ሥራዎች በንቃት መሳተፍ
4. የድሬዳዋ ታሪክና ባህል በአግባቡ እንዲታወቅና በስፓርት፣በኪነ ጥበብ፣ በሥነጽሁፍ ወዘተ በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ የነበራትን ጉልህ ድርሻ እናይዘነጋ ተሰንዶ እንዲቀመጥና ዘወትር እንዲዘከር ማድረግ
5. የድሬዳዋን የቱሪስት መስህቦጽ ማስተዋወቅና ህዝቡም በይበልጥ ተጠቃሚ ሊሆን የሚችልባቸውን መንገዶች በመቀየስ ከሚመለከታቸው እካላት ጋር መስራት
6. ከተማችን ድሬዳዋን ምቹና ተስማሚ የመኖሪያ ቦታ ለማድረግ በአካባቢ ጥበቃ ላይ የከተማዋን ነዋሪዎች በማስተባበር ዘለቄታ ያላቸውን ሥራዎች መስራት
7. መንግስት ከሚያደርገው ጥረት በተጓዳኝ የከተማችንን የኢኮኖሚ ትንሳኤ ለማረጋገጥ፣ የኢንቬስትመንት አዋጪነት እንዲሁም የሥራ ፈጠራ ጥናቶችን በማካሄድ በድሬዳዋ መዋዕለ -ነዋያቸውን ለማፍስስ ለሚያስቡ የግል አልሚዎች እገዛ ማድረግ

ማኅበራችን እስካሁን ምን ሰራ

1. ከ2018 ዓ.ም. ጀምሮ 100 ተማሪዎችን የዓመት የትምህርት ወጪያቸውን በሟሟላት እያስተማረ ይገኛል።
2. የኮቪድ -19 ወረርሽኝ ተስፋፍቶ በነበረበት ወቅት፣ ድሬዳዋ ላይ የመመርመሪያ ማሽን አለመኖሩን በመረዳት የድሬዳዋ ልጆችና ወዳጆች የኮቪድ-19 ታስክ ፎርስ በማቋቋም እና በማስተባበር፣ ከማኅበሩና ከአባላቱ አስራ ሁልት ሺህ (US$12,000) ዶላር አሰባስቦ በመለገስ የመመርመሪያ ማሽኑ እንዲገዛና በአሰገደች አረጋዊያን፣ በደawite አረጋውያን እና በፓድ ስር የሚገኙ ህፃናት ልዩ ልዩ ድጋፍ እንዲያገኙ አስተዋጽኦ አድርጓል።

ማኅበሩ በቀጣዩ ሊሰራቸው ያቀዳቸው

የተለያዪu ፕሮጄክቶች እየተቀረጹ ሲሆን፣ ከእነዚህም ውስጥ

1. ስዎችን ከተረጂነት የሚያወጣ ለሥራ ፈጠራ የሚሆን ማዕከል ማቋቋም
2. ለተማሪዎቻችን እን ለነዋሪዎች የሚሆን ላይብረሪ ማቋቋም እን
3. ሁለገብ የወጣት ማዕከልና የምክር አገልግሎት የሚሰጥበት ጣቢያ ማቋቋም

When was the Association established?

The Dire Dawa Children and Friends International Association was first founded in July 2018 (Gregorian calendar) through the initiative of Dire Dawa’s children and friends living in the United States and Europe.

Today, the association has over 100 members, with members residing across four continents: North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Goals of the Association

To create a common platform where children of Dire Dawa, both at home and abroad, can discuss their city’s shared concerns and exchange constructive and beneficial ideas.
To encourage active participation of Dire Dawa’s children and residents in the economic, social, and political affairs of the city, while promoting democratic and human rights without compromise and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
To work towards making Dire Dawa a city founded on social justice and development, and to actively participate in community development and charitable activities.
To promote the rich history and culture of Dire Dawa, and to ensure that its significant contributions to Ethiopia in sports, arts, and literature are properly recognized, preserved, and continually remembered.
To promote Dire Dawa’s tourism potential, and to collaborate with stakeholders in improving infrastructures so the community can benefit more from tourism.
To make Dire Dawa a livable and sustainable city by engaging residents in environmental protection and long-term development efforts.
To support the government’s efforts in strengthening the city’s economic revival by encouraging investment, conducting job-creation studies, and assisting private initiatives that aim to improve the livelihoods of Dire Dawa’s residents.

What has the Association achieved so far?

Since 2018, the association has been sponsoring 100 students annually, covering their full educational expenses.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when Dire Dawa lacked a diagnostic machine, the association mobilized resources by establishing the Dire Dawa Children and Friends COVID-19 Task Force. Together with its members, the association raised $12,000 USD to purchase the machine. Additionally, it provided special support to the elderly in Asgeda and Dewite areas, as well as assistance to children living under PAD’s care.

Future Plans

The association is currently developing various projects, including:

Establishing a job-creation center to help lift people out of poverty.
Building a library to benefit both students and residents.
Creating a youth center and counseling hub that will serve as a resource for personal growth and community support.
